Advancing Transplant Research for Traumatic Injury Recovery and Collaboration through RTRP program.

Clinical Organization Networks for Standardization of Reconstructive Transplantation (CONSORT) Trial

Supported by the DOD, the CONSORT Multicenter Trial advances reconstructive transplant research, benefiting military Service members, Veterans, their family members, and the broader community recovering from traumatic injury by standardizing procedures and enhancing overall quality of life.

The CONSORT Multicenter Trial is a dedicated endeavor aimed at standardizing and validating clinical practice guidelines (CPGs) and standard operating procedures (SOPs) in eight pivotal areas within both face and hand transplantation. These encompass patient selection criteria, education protocols, surgical techniques, immune system management, outcome measurement, quality of life assessment, rehabilitation plans, and comprehensive patient reporting systems. These exacting standards ensure the safety and efficacy of transplant procedures while propelling the field forward through data-driven protocols and enhanced patient care.

In this monumental effort, Yale University spearheads clinical, administrative, and operational aspects, complemented by WFUHS managing central regulatory and data management responsibilities. Navitas Technologies pioneers VCA-NET, a state-of-the-art decentralized, cloud-based electronic clinical trial management system (eCTMS) meticulously aligned with standardized CPGs and SOPs, poised to address the intricate nuances of hand and face transplantation metrics. Simultaneously, the partnership with the National Academies of Sciences, Engineering, and Medicine (NASEM) further ensures the rigorous development of SOPs and CPGs, upholding the highest standards in reconstructive transplantation research and practice.

Join the CONSORT Trial Network: Your Path to Research Excellence

We are excited to announce the initiation of the Clinical Organization Network for Standardization of Reconstructive Transplantation (CONSORT), a multicenter consortium funded by the Reconstructive Transplant Research Program (RTRP) with the objective to standardize protocols and clinical practice guidelines for face and hand transplantation.

We invite you to determine whether your VCA Program qualifies to participate in this important initiative as a Clinical Network Site, particularly if it is approved by UNOS/OPTN for face and/or hand transplantation
